Your junior just got their fall schedule. Maybe a learner’s permit, maybe a first job. Senior photos feel like a next-year problem. They aren’t. Class of 2028 senior photos start taking shape this school year, and the families who plan now get the best summer dates, the calmest shoot days, and a teen who actually shows up excited.
Here’s the junior-year game plan we give every 2028 family, plus one opportunity that closes December 1st.

Class of 2028 Senior Photos: Your Junior-Year Game Plan
Your student graduates in spring 2028. Most senior sessions happen the summer before senior year, which means summer 2027. That sounds far away. Our calendar says otherwise, because summer golden hour slots go first every single year.
Here’s how we break it down for families:
Fall of junior year (right now): Follow a few senior photographers together. Notice what your teen lingers on. Do they save the moody downtown shots or the wildflower fields? That tells you a lot. This is also the season to apply for our 2028 Senior Rep Team.
Winter: Talk about budget and style as a family. Ask your school when it needs a yearbook photo. Some Twin Cities schools want it early in the fall of senior year.
Spring: Book your session and lock in your photographer.
Summer 2027: Shoot day. Your gallery lands in 2 to 4 weeks, well before the first day of school.
Want the full month-by-month version? Our senior photo booking timeline walks through every step. The class year changes. The timing logic doesn’t.
Junior year stacks up fast on the school side too, with the PSAT, college visits, and course planning all landing at once. The College Board’s BigFuture planning tools help with the academic side. We’ll handle the photo side.

Join Our 2028 Senior Rep Team
Every year we pick a small group of juniors to represent our studio. For the Class of 2028, applications close December 1st.
Here’s what every rep gets:
- A free senior session
- Referral commissions for every friend they send our way
- First dibs on dates when 2028 booking opens
That last perk matters more than it sounds. First access means your teen picks the date, the photographer, and the golden hour slot before anyone else sees the calendar.
You don’t need a huge following to apply. You don’t need modeling experience either. We want juniors who love their people, show up for their friends, and feel genuinely excited about senior year. Plenty of seniors walk into their session nervous. Almost all of them walk out lighter.
Spots stay small on purpose, so we can give each rep real attention. If your junior keeps showing you senior photos on their phone, send them our way before the deadline.

For the Senior Who Dreads Photos (and the Mom Who Wants Them Anyway)
Let’s be honest about how this usually goes. Mom has pictured these photos since kindergarten drop-off. The senior would rather do literally anything else.
We get it. Most teens have only seen themselves in selfies and school picture day proofs. Neither one feels like them.
Our sessions run differently. We talk, we walk, we play music, and we make them laugh. We coach every pose, so nobody stands there wondering what to do with their hands. Somewhere around the second outfit, the shoulders drop. That’s when the real photos start.
And moms, this part is for you. Every session includes complimentary mother-daughter photos. Your girl heads off to college or her next adventure in fall 2028. You’ll want a few frames of the two of you before that day comes.
If your senior worries about looking awkward, read our guide to confident senior pictures that feel like you. It shows exactly how that shift happens.

Where Class of 2028 Seniors Shoot in Minneapolis
Minneapolis gives you a lot of range in a single afternoon. Mill Ruins Park brings stone walls and river views. Longfellow Gardens bursts with color all summer. Arneson Acres in Edina has garden paths and a pergola that glows at golden hour. The Wayzata docks give off full lake-kid energy for west metro seniors.
We photograph Class of 2028 senior photos across the Twin Cities, including Edina, Minnetonka, Wayzata, and St. Paul. Your teen doesn’t have to pick one vibe either. Many of our seniors pair a city spot with a garden or field for two completely different looks.
Start dreaming with our list of the best senior photo locations in Minneapolis. Save your favorites and bring them to your planning call.
