Equestria West Wedding Inspiration | A Haute House Studio Styled Shoot

White drapery from floor to ceiling. A suspended ring of greenery and white blooms. Two models in a gown and tux, leaning in close while the room goes quiet around them. Haute House Studio designed this Equestria West wedding ceremony as a styled shoot, and it’s the clearest picture we’ve seen of what this Chaska venue becomes with the right team behind it.

We made these images for couples touring Bavaria Downs right now, trying to picture their own day inside these walls. Here’s what the space looks like through our lens, why the design works, and what we’d tell you before you sign.

Why We Love Photographing an Equestria West Wedding

Equestria West is the newest building on the Bavaria Downs grounds. The team rebuilt an old stable into a contemporary event space, and it hosted its first wedding in the summer of 2023. The equestrian roots show up in the details, but don’t walk in expecting a barn. This is warm wood, soft leather, antique copper, and rounded chandeliers that glow in the evening.

Glass doors open from the main hall to a courtyard with a fountain and manicured gardens. A short path leads guests out to a wooded ceremony site tucked into the trees. You can see every space on the venue’s Equestria West page.

From a photography standpoint, the indoor ceremony room is the reason we keep coming back. The walls and floors stay light and neutral, so nothing fights with your florals or throws a color cast on skin. Window light fills the room in the afternoon. That means we spend less time chasing good light and more time with you.

It also means the room takes on whatever design you bring. Some couples lean into the copper and leather. Others go fully white, like Haute House did here. Both work, because the architecture stays calm and lets the design lead.

The Design: Haute House Studio’s All-White Ceremony

Haute House Studio handled planning and florals, and they built the whole ceremony around one big idea. Instead of scattering arrangements down the aisle, they hung a single ring of greenery and white roses above the ceremony space. Then they grounded it with low clusters of white roses and orchids on either side.

That choice photographs beautifully. One statement piece gives every frame a clear focal point, whether we shoot wide from the back of the room or tight on a quiet moment at the front. Layered white drapery softens the background so the people in the frame stand out without any editing tricks.

The styling stays in the same lane. Our bridal model wore a gown from Brides of France at 50th and France, paired with a long veil and a full bouquet of white roses and trailing greenery. Our groom model wore a black tux and bow tie styled through J.Hilburn, also at 50th and France. Lady Vamp Artistry kept hair and makeup soft and luminous. Letter Perfect MN designed the stationery to match the palette.

If you love this look, here’s our honest advice. Pick one moment to splurge on and let everything else support it. Guests remember one jaw-drop detail far longer than ten small ones.

What You Actually Want From Your Wedding Day

Most of the couples we meet aren’t chasing perfect photos. They want a day that feels like them, guests who feel taken care of, and the freedom to stay present instead of managing a timeline. The venue you choose shapes all three.

Equestria West makes that easier than most. Getting-ready rooms sit right on site, so you skip the hotel shuffle and the extra drive. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all flow through one building and its courtyard. Fewer transitions means more breathing room, and more breathing room means better photos.

The indoor ceremony space also takes Minnesota weather off your worry list. Rain, wind, or a surprise cold snap won’t wreck the plan. You get a beautiful backup that doesn’t feel like a backup at all.

Before you book anyone, sit down with your photographer and talk through the timeline for this exact venue. Our list of questions to ask your wedding photographer before booking walks you through what to cover.

Planning a Chaska Wedding at Bavaria Downs

Equestria West sits in Chaska, about 30 minutes southwest of downtown Minneapolis. It shares the Bavaria Downs property with two sister venues, the Edward Anne Estate and Woodland Glasshaus. Each one has a completely different feel. Our guide to Bavaria Downs breaks down the estate as a whole if you’re still deciding.

Seasons change this place in a big way. Fall turns the wooded ceremony site gold and red. Winter sends everyone indoors to that glowing hall, which might be our favorite version of an Equestria West wedding. Summer belongs to the courtyard and the fountain at golden hour.

And if you’re touring venues outside the Cities and secretly want a true barn, take a look at this barn wedding at The Madison in Cottage Grove. Seeing two very different spaces side by side makes the right fit obvious fast.

Ready to Book Your Equestria West Wedding Photographer?
