Brand Photography for Astrologers: Caitlin Weseman’s Session

Caitlin Weseman reads charts for a living. Through her work as an astrologer, she helps moms make sense of themselves, their kids, and the season of life they’re in. So when she booked brand photography for astrologers with our team, her goal wasn’t “make me look professional.”

It was closer to this: make me look like someone you’d trust with your birth time.

That’s a bigger ask than it sounds. Here’s how we approached her session, and what any astrologer can borrow from it.

Why Astrologer Headshots Need More Than a Nice Background

Think about what an astrology client hands over before a reading. Their birth date, birth time, and birthplace. Usually the question keeping them up at night, too.

Before they share any of that, they scroll. They land on your Instagram or your website and quietly ask one question. Do I feel safe with this person?

A standard corporate headshot answers the wrong question. It says “competent.” Heavy mystical styling misses in the other direction. Galaxy backdrops and crystal balls read like a costume, and a costume creates distance.

Caitlin’s audience is moms. They’re smart, busy, and a little skeptical of anything that feels performative. They want someone grounded and warm who can also go deep. So her astrologer headshots needed to hold both at once: approachable enough to message, credible enough to book.

We kept the focus on her face and her expressions. Eye contact for the “I see you” moments. Softer, mid-laugh frames for the “this won’t be weird” moments. Those two feelings do most of the selling before a client ever reads her offer.

Building a Visual Identity for a Spiritual Business

A spiritual business lives or dies on consistency. Your followers should recognize your world before they even see your name.

For Caitlin, that meant building a small, repeatable visual language. We planned a mix of three shot types:

Portraits for her profile photo, website header, and podcast or press features.

Working shots of Caitlin doing the actual work. Studying a chart, taking notes, talking to camera as if she’s mid-reading.

Detail shots with props that belong to her practice, so her content has texture beyond her face.

If you’re planning your own session, our brand photography shot list walks through every category you’ll want covered.

The props matter more than people expect. One printed chart or a well-loved notebook tells a stranger “this person actually does the work.” A pile of generic zodiac décor tells them nothing. We pushed Caitlin toward objects with meaning, the same approach we use when helping any client show their personality in brand photos.

From Faceless Content to the Astrologer People Recommend

Here’s the pattern we see with a lot of astrologers. They build an audience on zodiac memes, transit graphics, and faceless carousels. The content gets saves and shares. Bookings stay flat.

Faceless content earns attention. Faces earn trust.

When someone shares a meme about Mercury retrograde, they’re sharing the meme. When someone sends a friend a photo of Caitlin with the note “you need to talk to her,” they’re sharing Caitlin. That’s how referrals work in this industry, and referrals are the lifeblood of a reading-based business.

Her handle already does half the job. Caitlin | Astro Mom tells you exactly who she serves. Her photos finish the sentence by putting a real, warm person behind the name.

This is the same shift we walk through with our transformational coach clients. You can only be the best-kept secret for so long before the secret part starts costing you clients.

Brand Photography for Astrologers in Minneapolis

Most astrologers work online. Readings happen over Zoom, and clients can live anywhere. But your photos still need to happen in person, with a team that knows how to pull real expressions out of someone who spends her days focused on other people.

Our Minneapolis studio gives us full control over light, backdrops, and pacing. Nobody feels rushed, and there’s space to reset between looks. We also shoot on location around the Twin Cities when a client’s practice calls for a home office, a garden, or a cozy corner that feels like their reading space.

If you’re an astrologer, tarot reader, Human Design guide, or intuitive coach, brand photography for astrologers works the same way it does for any service business. Your clients buy you first and your offer second.
